Even though you will return home at the end of any vacation, the idea of your holiday is not to complete it as quickly as possible so that you can check it off of your list. The idea of your vacation and this life is to have a joyous experience.

Life is not just doing thing and check off our activities everyday. We need to live our life fully and enjoy it everyday, life is a “Game”, take action and do your best. It does not matter what the result is, as long as you have done the best. Be thankful for the blessing you have that day, and be great to have new experience of what you do not like that day. Life is a journey that you need to enjoy each step and process of it.

Power of Vision

Vision shows the direction, energizes and pulls us focus to what we want to achieve in our life. The first step to get the Power of Vision is to understand the purpose of our life in this earth and to identify our mission. We need vision to point where we are going and show the direction, and in moving follows our direction we need to understand our values; what we believe as important in our life and we want to reflect them daily. Understand who we are and where we are going, and our values are very important to the success of our journey of life.

Vision gives meaning to our life and provides direction, it helps us to get focuses, get energized and get great results. By having Vision we walk based on our priorities, and we keep our perspective on target. Pray to God to help us find our purpose of life, our values and the driving force in our life. Doing so is the most important step to meaningful and happier life.

In Business, coaching is a powerful alliance between a coach and owner (and staff) that work to produce higher business performance and exceptional results for the organization. A coach helps the owner and staff to understand their current position, their strengths, areas need to be improved. Helps to identify their market opportunities, discover the alternative solutions and strategies, and take actions and move forward to achieve their business objectives. A coach asks many questions to create clients’ awareness of their current capabilities, and challenges the clients to think beyond what they have and are doing now. A coach supports and enthuse the clients to increase its capabilities to do analysis, to do business, take action and manage progress. A coach helps clients to hold accountable for their actions and results, and give client open and honest feedback to allow clients to understand clearly their position.

Developing leadership is very crucial for people in the organization and their life. Leaders are not born but developed, many literatures and trainings are available to provide knowledge for people to be an effective leader, however, be a leader and having leaderships are not the matter of having the knowledge only, the most important thing is how the leaders can walk what they talk and talk what they walk, and have an visible commitment to action. The leaders are not only do themselves what they talk, but also have the ability to inspire and move people to do the similar things. Coaching for leadership helps the leaders and people to understand their strengths and weaknesses, create awareness of their leadership capabilities, and support them in gaining a higher level of leadership skills. Coaching helps the leaders to focus more on creating valued-base and purposeful goal and shifting people from manager style to leadership style.

Major Differences Between Coaching and Other Disciplines

Coaching is a method and process to help and support others to have better quality of life and to accomplish their goal. The main differences of coaching approach with other disciplines are on future orientation, taking actions, no judgment and solutions are from clients.

- Therapists and Coaching: Therapy tends to focus on dysfunction, resistance, past-related feeling, old pains, old experiences, whereas Coaching tends to focus on functional person and person’s strengths, goals, and future orientation

- Counselling and Coaching: Counselling is based on the past, deal in hierarchical relationship and use reactive approach, it provides expertise to fix the problem, whereas Coaching tends to focus on new competence, pro-active and partnership approach and future orientation

- Consulting and Coaching: Consulting focuses on solving specific area of problem and an expert in that area, whereas Coaching tends to focus on helping clients to find the solution themselves and do not need to be the expert in that area

- Mentoring and Coaching: A mentor is a person with more power, influence and experience that guides someone in specific situation and area, a coach works as a partner with its client, and let the client decides and takes the self decision.

International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. According to Stevens (2005) coaching itself is a relationship with the objective to enhance the process of lifelong learning, effectiveness and fulfilment. Furthermore Zeus & Skiffington (2000) stated coaching is a conversation and a dialogue, an interactive process that coach and coachee have, in order to move coachee toward its objectives.

In doing the coaching, ICF requires its members to have core competence to create relationship and intimacy with their client in safe, supportive, mutual respect and trusted environment. A coach is required to be full presence and demonstrates an open, flexible and confident style. A coach is required to ask questions and facilitate the clients to discover the solution themselves and help clients to identify their goal and find their way to achieve this goal.

There are many reasons why people use the service of life coaching, most common purpose is to achieve a higher living standard and get help in solving particular issue or challenge. Higher living standard can be a more happier or successful life or work, or balance of both in work and family, or balance in multiple aspects of life such as health, relationships, fun, work, personal development etc. In the beginning of a coaching process, a coach will clarify the objective or goal what a client want to achieve in certain time frame.

A life coach works as client’s partner to support client to find own solutions to face challenges and have better living. Some of the challenges that a client may face are:

1. How to free from feeling of worries, quilt, anxiety and regrets?
2. How to have balance of living?
3. How to have great, supportive, affirming relationships at work and home?
4. How to feel have a peaceful heart and a connection to something larger than myself?
5. How to understand the purpose of his/ her living?
6. How to have a clear idea of own interests, talents and values?
7. How to have a pleasant career and job and at the same time provide significant income?

Through the process, a coach asks many questions to create awareness of client’s current situation and condition, identifies what actions need to be taken, and what to be eliminated and improved in client’s life. The coach helps the client move from where the current position to the next level of what the client wants to achieve, and in the same time helps the client facing the life challenge. A coach gives feedback, enthuses and encourages a client to move forward, invites client to devise a plan and actions, holds client accountable, and helps a client to have capability to help himself/ herself and to manage his/her own progress.
